Meebo Chat Center – Time Saver

Making good use of social marketing and their chat features but tired of scanning through multiple sites and trying to keep up?  Try Meebo.  It’s what  we would call a chat condenser application.  You register all your chat sites, for instance from Facebook, MySpace, Yahoo, AIM, etc., and then go to the centralized Meebo location to chat with all of them.

Here’s a screenshot to give you an idea of how it works:

As Meebo says, it’s free, there are no downloads required, and all it takes is one login to access all your accounts.

The downside?  Makes us a little queasy to see that it is sponsored by superpages.com.  Of course, just using Gmail or Gchat is problematic.

Are you using Meebo.com?  We’ve heard rave reviews from others, but what’s your take?  Let us know in the comments.

Ok, you may be wondering why on earth anyone would need or want this social chat IM (instant messaging) stuff.  We here at Honey Bee Buzz Marketing use it so that people looking at our site have instant access to us if we’re online so that they can ask us questions about pricing, services, how to sign up, etc.  Our clients also use it to discuss details and ask questions like can you do a banner like on xyz site and to let us know if they like color options a, b, or c best for their web design.  Chat is free, quick, and it lets you do the rest of your work while someone is thinking, unlike being on the phone which can be a time hog.  Instant messaging is also an excellent way to communicate within a company, whether you are all in the same building or spread across the globe.  It saves walking around and waiting at the very least, and it makes it easy for virtual or remote employees to be just as in touch as those with adjoining cubicles.

What’s your favorite tech time saver?
